Greek cinematic pop artist Kid Moxie chatted about her new album “Better Than Electric.”
On the song selection process for the new CD, she said, “It happened very much organically. There is a neon-noir/retro-futuristic element to all the tracks on BTE so whenever a song felt like it possessed those characteristics, I would put it in my ‘Better Than Electric’ folder.”
When asked what her personal favorite song on the CD is, she responded, “Such a tough one, but I would say the title song, ‘Better Than Electric,’ has a very special place in my heart as it sparked the entire record.”
Regarding her music and songwriting inspirations, she shared, “Scenes that play like little movies in my head. Every song is a scene.”
On being an artist in the digital age, she remarked, “I prefer to think of it as a privilege as it makes things easier as far as being able to reach people in faraway places.”
She opened up about her Greek heritage. “I’m very proud of my Greek heritage and especially the language and ancient culture,” she admitted. “My friends tell me I always sound like the dad from ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding.’ I should really be carrying a Windex around at all times!”
Kid Moxie listed pop superstar Justin Bieber as her dream duet choice in the music business. “I’m a huge Justin Bieber fan. A girl can dream,” she exclaimed.
Growing up, her biggest musical influences included George Michael, Goldfrapp, Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Bjork, and many soundtracks such as Blade Runner and Blue Velvet.
She concluded about her new album, “I want them to find an open road, take a night drive, and turn the volume up.”
